Dublin is growing and its police department is keeping up.
Dublin Police Services has created a motorcycle unit to combat
ever-increasing traffic problems.
Officer Bruce Rank, 49, is on the street riding a BRAND NEW POLICE HARLEY DAVIDSON
purcahsed from the Vallejo Harley Davidson Dealership.
Lt. Dave DiFranco said Dublin Police Chief Gary Thuman decided to bring
in the motorcycles
because of the city's growth, which is expected to be tremendous in the
next five years.
"Dublin is expanding, and we have so much more traffic. We have become a
suburb more than a small town," DiFranco said.
"We have to change with the times in orderto be effective,
and this is just part of the process."
An 18-year veteran with the sheriff's office, Rank has a personal 1997
Harley Davidson Road King
and is a member of the Blue Knights, a world-wide law enforcement
motorcycle club.
"It is one of my only off-duty pleasures," he joked.
"It is a whole different realm. There are a lot of hazards that require
a lot of care and a lot of
training," Rank said.
